There were a number Indians in the Waiting Room and one old Buck had very modern light colored luggage that you could see on Boyleston Street. We passed trailers by the dozen - some large and some small. Some of the larger Land Cruisers had air conditioning attached to the roofs and looked to be 40 or 50 ft. long. We envy their way of life and wish we could do the same. We passed the New Mexico Arizona line at 2:30 pm. 17761 miles and hit poor roads until we came to Grant, Arizona which was the first stretch of any consequence where they were building a new road. Got out of it finally and kept going on mostly a two lane lousy road. Finally came to the Petrified Forest - a National Shrine. Got out to stretch our legs and look around. Hotter than Hades. The kids had a ice cream as did Helen, Gladys. My original intention was to push right till Flagstaff in the cool of the evening but a couple of old biddy school teachers talked the ladies out of it on the grounds that we
