Thursday July 28th

Kay home from Hospital about 7:45 and we decided I should go to pick up twelve loaves of day old bread at the Wonder Bread plant on Redondo Street off Anaheim Ave. Found the place all right but it didn't open until 10:30 so used the intervening time to see if I could find my way to Belmont Shore Bay. No trouble at all so they waded around a bit before we started back for the Bakery. Found out on the way back that two of the six kids had left their shoes at the beach, so here was another problem. We spent $3.07 for bread and cake and returned to the house. Bread went into the deep freeze and then had the ladies make up a picnic lunch and took off at 11:30 for the beach again and to retrieve the shoes. This spot on the Bay is a beautiful sheltered spot - no waves - and water warmer than the ocean which is right across the street. Finished the better part of the lunch and then we all went into the water. I was very careful this time to keep myself covered to avoid a repetition of the sunburn which I got the first Monday we were here (and from the effects of which I am still peeling). This beach also has a playground for the children and you can check out Shuffle board-Checkers
