Corrigan's Ranch
Corriganville Calif.
Bright and early daughter Kay and I went to do the shopping at the 'Plowboy' Roadside Stand and Market and came back loaded. Prices were higher -tho: Beet 3 bunches for 10c-Cantaloups 6 for 25c. They had a sale of Fresh Corn - 6 doz for a crate $.99c so she picked up two crates and made plans to put it in the deep freeze tonight. Picked up some Beef Brains at 19c lb. which are good eating. I made reference before to a Rabbit she had in the deep freezer and which when it was cooked Thursday was tough eating. On the way to the market we passed a place that raises tame rabbit's so we stopped on the way home to pick one up. Wouldn't let us in to see the rabbits-said there was a State law against it so he butchered one for us that weighted 3 lbs. at 65c lb it cost $1.95 so we'll try this again on Monday night and report the results. Back home again w/all the loot and after further discussion got a lunch ready and took off for Corrigan's Ranch - 64 miles by the speedometer - in San Fernando Valley. Hit the Freeway again to north of L.A. and almost got to the desert again when we turned off to this Valley, It seemed like ten miles before we got there and the charge for grown-ups $1.00 -50c for children. Got inside the gate and another 25c for parking.
