Kathy. That wasn't too important at the minute as I figured they may have gone up the beach for a walk. Waited 15 minutes - no ladies - no girls. Another 1/2 hour and I started getting worried. Sent the two boys on a scouting detail - no soap. Sent them across the street to the Ocean Beach - went myself.still no kids and to make matters worse - no ladies. Finally went to the LifeGuard Station and they hadn't seen them Had them phone the Police to see if they had been picket up. Nothing doing. Finally got them to call the house - Kay answered. No Kids. So I said I would start hunting again for another half hour and I was nearly frantic. No Kids - no ladies. Back to the Life Guard House again - they contacted the Police- still no record of them Called the house again - no answer. In the meantime Bob came home from work and he and Kay came chasing down. They picked the kids up about a mile away looking for Nana and Gladys. So Kay and Bob came to the Bay where we always swim and they found the other four in the playground - but no Pink. They started to drive around looking for me when I returned from the Life Guard station worrying about the next move - and there they were. What a relief. Jean and Kathy had started to walk to meet Helen and Gladys - no find so they started walking home when Kay and Bob spotted them a mile from the Beach walking home. Still no ladies so we both cars crossed the town looking for them No Find. They in the meantime after waiting and waiting gave up and started for Home by way of Long Beach and after -as they said-travelling all around Southern California by Bus and with the help of a neighborly woman finally arrived home - exhausted. Jean and Kathy were scheduled for a private session but I was happy that everything worked out as it did and they were let off with a Fatherly and Grandfatherly talk. All's well that ends well and that completed a rather hectic day.
N.B. I have a clear recollection of this day and Captain makes it sound much more reasonable a 'talk' than I recall. and believe me, I know what the 'private session' meant. And I recall he somehow hit his head and keeled over during the search.
