We had a rather unusual experience in this City of Sheridan

When we arrived in town Friday night they were making preparations for a Indian-American Week at the end of which they were to crown an Indian Queen. I believe they had to have at least 1/4 Indian Blood in order to qualify. Anyway everything was filled up until one Motel contacted this place back as we came into the town so back we went. It was really a stink-lock but we had to have some place to sleep so we took it. We paid $12.50 and it was only worth at the most $8.00. Two rooms with a kitchenette which of course we didn't use. Two adjoining bedrooms. As we came into this place - an old Indian sat near the front. He had on a Headdress of feathers. His daughter was with him and they had come for the celebration. He was ninety-five years old-an old Warrior and neither of them could speak any English. He slept on one side of us. On the other side was another Indian with his wife and a little girl. This last couple must have taken off for town.
